Wally was stuck in one of the biggest high kill shelters in California. There he sat for 1 1/2 months, with nobody coming to get him. He was placed on the euthanasia list, and we got him JUST in time.
Despite his shelter documentation suggesting he's five, we're convinced Wally is a youthful two-year-old. His sleek coat and expressive eyes reflect his gentle and smart nature.
Wally is a social butterfly, enjoying the company of both people and dogs. He is just as happy going on an outdoor adventure as he is cozying up for a quiet night in. Wally is fully house trained but he could use a little help on refining his manners. His friendly demeanor and love of cuddles makes him a great addition to any loving home.
If you're seeking a lively and loving canine companion who is eager to please, Wally might be the perfect fit.
Come meet him and discover the joy of having this affectionate and spirited dog in your life!

Gus was quite timid when he came, but is quickly coming out of his shell. He is a big snuggler and has really taken to foster mom. Wherever she is, Gus is.
Gus is a small little guy who weighs only 10 lbs. He's about a year old, so he's got some playfulness in him. He is also a big cuddler, and loves to lie right up against you. The more pets and love, the happier Gus is!
Gus is dog friendly, and would do well in a home with another small dog, or on his own. He is shy with new people, but is curious enough to eventually open up.
Overall the little guy just wants someone to keep him warm and loved, furever.

She is still adjusting to life outside of the shelter and is sometimes timid. Still a puppy she is learning spatial awareness and is very curious about everything.
She is currently being fostered in a home with a similar-sized dog who is older and she takes direction. Her foster home is currently training Sylvie on sit and stay as well as her potty training which is going well. Sylvie is very much a beta and takes direction and training well.
Sylvie's ideal home would be with an active family, who has time to train her. With or without a furry friend. Her foster mom works from home and Sylvie is good at keeping herself entertained with toys or napping. She knows where her bed is and sleeps in it although she is comfortable in a crate.
Sylvie weighs 23 lbs and is 7 months old.

Ruru has a very sad and challenging story, and the one who will be so lucky to adopt her, will get a dog who will need A LOT of love, care and patience for the rest of her life.
Ruru was born in a hoarding house with 40+ dogs. She then went on to have litters of puppies, living in filth and just inhumane conditions. On June 22nd, animal control came and picked up all the dogs, and they ended up at Riverside shelter. There they sat frightened, listening to hundreds of other dogs bark all day and night long.
Some got adopted, but Ruru was still sitting in her kennel 2 months later waiting for someone to rescue her. She ended up on the red list, and that's the last list you make it too at the shelter, and it means you're cleared for euthanasia.
When we saw her shelter picture, and heard her story, we called the shelter immediately and said we want to save her, and from there Ruru made it out and is now a member of Barney's Furry Friends Rescue.
She arrived on August 20th in Coquitlam, and was terrified when she arrived. She had sat still in the shelter for 2 months, and then 2 weeks of boarding, no wonder she was scared. We also found out she had a litter just before she was taken in to the shelter, so this poor sweet mama has been through way too much in her life so far.
The good news is: she is safe, and she is now being loved and nurtured back to life by her wonderful foster parents and their dog Molly. She is still scared, especially by loud noises. No wonder.. Listening to constant barking for 2 1/2 months in a strange place, will affect you.
Ruru's ideal home would be with another dog, as she loves other dogs, and need that safety net to help her continue to learn to be a happy dog in a normal, loving and caring home.
Ruru's owner will have to be very patient with her, giving her time to continue to blossom, and know that she has had a very rough life, and she is going to take some work, but oh my will it be worth it. Dogs like Ruru will blow your mind in how they transform, and definitely be worth every effort.
If you'd be interested in meeting this sweet girl, please fill out the application on our website, and you will hear back from us!
Ruru is being fostered in Coquitlam.
