Tyler was recently rescued from a California shelter, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at him! 

Even as he left the transport truck, Tyler’s tail was wagging and he was eager to explore, ready for his new life right from the start! 

The scruffy sweet boy is 9 months old and weighs 22lbs. 

Tyler is a charming medium-sized dog who enjoys walks, running with kids, and playing with toys. He is also treat-motivated and eager to learn, making him a great candidate for an active or family-oriented home. 

Tyler is friendly with dogs, cats, and children… and well, everyone is seems.

Rose is a 10 week old Chi cross puppy and currently weighs in at just over 4lbs. 

She is the happiest little girl and LOVES people. She has many character traits of her mom who is an amazing dog. 

Rose comes bounding to you when called and one of her favourite things is to play fetch, she is already bringing the ball back. 

She has been exposed to kids/cats/other dogs and does great. Rose is pee pad trained and crate training has been started. 

This absolute bundle of love is looking for her forever home, she promises to provide loads of fun, laughter and endless affectionate kisses.

Harper ended up at the shelter at just 2 years old, and was so scared they quickly euth listed her. We scooped her up, and she became a BFF dog!

We quickly found out that Harper had issues with her back leg, after a trip to the vet we found out she has Luxating Patella in one of her legs, which requires surgery which we plan on doing for her. After surgery, Harper should be as “good as new”, and be able to use all her 4 legs normally.

Here’s what foster mom has to say about little Harper:

Harper is a very sweet little nugget (8lbs) who loves to cuddle. 

She is low energy even though she runs to catch up to us around the house so she doesn’t miss anything.  Once we sit down she’s in her happy place. She plays well with our 100+ pound husky as well as her 14-pound foster sister, Calli, but she can be a little possessive if one of them takes her toy away. 

She’s getting used to walking on her leash and we’re working on getting her to walk further away from our feet where she seems to feel safer. She is mostly potty trained and we let her in the back yard often. 

She isn’t crazy about going into her crate at night and will be vocal for a few minutes and then she’ll settle down. She lets us know around 7:30 in the morning that she needs to go out and do her business. 

She needs a little coaxing to eat her breakfast, but then we let her outside again to play with the other dogs.  Harper can be anxious and vocal for a few minutes when we leave her alone in the house, but greets us with wiggles and uncontrollable excitement when we return. It’s amazing how much love Harper has in that little body and she’s willing to give it to anyone who wants it. 

She’s a very special little girl with the biggest heart, and can’t wait to find her forever home.

This handsome little guy is full of joy & character.

He loves everyone, kids included, has been introduced to fosters dogs and exposed to cats. He is pee pad trained and sleeps in his pen at night.

Meet our dearest angel Melody. 

Melody was found tied up to a tree in a parking lot by her owners, when our rescue partner spotted her. Melody was freaking out barking and barking, as her owners walked away. The owners explained to our rescue partner that they didn't have a place to live anymore, and the shelter wouldn't allow Melody. So they tied her to a tree, and walked away.

Her heart was broken.

Not to long after Melody found herself on her way to a new beginning with BFF.

Melody is a Belgian Malinois  - she is 6-8 months old and is petite for her breed. She is an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl. Let’s not mistake that she is still a Malinois and is full of high energy, drive and sass. She is whip smart and has been progressing well with her obedience - Melody is currently in school! 

She loves learning in her training program sessions and thrives when given a job - She’s on it!  Her continued training is important to her ability to thrive in our busy human world. For Melody to be successful, she will need an owner with time, patience and commitment to her continued learning. Melody requires structure and a calm confident handler to guide her - someone willing to take on her current training and continue with our support, as the goal is a happy healthy relationship and home for Melody for an amazing future. 

Once her training is completed, she would make an amazing partner for enjoying life’s adventures - forest hikes, trail running, and outdoor escapes. Melody is also becoming quite skilled at  relaxing at home in the house. Although she is occasionally a bit vocal due to her impulse to always be involved in whatever’s going on around her, she settles quickly with guidance and is improving greatly as her current training progresses. 

She’s fully crate trained and enjoys time in that space overnight and periodically during the day. This time and space for herself is necessary for her to regulate her energy and her all-important mental wellbeing. 

Melody could potentially live in a home with another balanced dog or two. However, planned and intentionally slow introductions would be mandatory for success over the long term. Although not showing specific reactivity towards humans or dogs, true to her breed, Melody runs at a high operation level and is triggered by sudden, noisy, novel or intense events. She has demonstrated some reactivity to cars and traffic in particular, and we are addressing that with her current training and beginning to see progress. 

Although Melody behaves well around the children she currently is staying with, it would be wise for her not to live in a home with very young children, simply because very young children can be unpredictable and are not old enough to have learned safe behaviour and handling of dogs.

Meet 6 week old Snow. 

Snow weighs only 2.5 lbs and is a complete love. He loves to cuddle, and wants to just be with you and give you endless kisses. 

He is a quiet, sensitive little soul. Snow is a mama's boy, and loves to snuggle up against her, and tucks himself right in under her chin when he's tired after playing with his siblings. 

Snow is ready for adoption from December 15th when he turns 8 weeks old.

Tiny Emery only 7 lbs and 6 months old. 

Emery was found outside, and was very nervous when she arrived to BFF. 

After a few weeks with her wonderful foster Mel, she has come a long way. She's a playful little girl, and loves zooming around the house. She's working on her potty training, and sticks mostly to the pee pads. 

She's a sneaky girl and likes to grab your sock or shoe, so some chew toys are definitely a must. 

Emery feels most comfortable with women, but with time will hopefully enjoy men too. 

Before coming to us, we don't believe Emery ever has been on a leash, so that's still a work in progress. 

She's fine on her own when the foster family leaves the home, and is in a restricted area to make sure she and their shoes are safe. 

Emery's favourite is to play and receive plenty of snuggles, especially on her tummy! 

This sweet pup has still lots to learn, and can't wait to find her forever home where she can get the support to continue to develop into the best dog possible. 

Emery would be best suited with a single person or couple, with no kids. We believe she needs a quiet household who can invest time and love into her, and we know she'll give endless love and kisses back.

Meet the most beautiful boy, Bandit.

Bandit was rescued off a reserve in Manitoba, where he lived outside in the freezing cold with his family.

Bandit weighs 23 lbs and is 4 months old. He's a super sweet puppy, and got the most beautiful features. He's a heeler/shepherd mix, and the biggest out of the litter. He looks very similar to mom!

Bandit would make a great furry best friend for most families. He deserves someone who can dedicate time, love and training to help him become his very best self.

Oliver somehow ended up at the shelter with his 3 siblings. Two of them got euthanized and Oliver & his brother was euth listed. We got them just in time, because their foster said yes.

Oliver is a gentle and quiet dog who thrives in a family setting. He’s great with kids and gets along well with other dogs, always eager to make new friends on walks. 

He walks well on a leash with only minor pulling, and he’s house-trained, signaling when he needs to go outside by heading to the door.  

Although he’s not a big fan of his crate, Oliver will go inside with a treat. He’s highly food motivated, so be careful around low-lying food, especially around little hands, as he may try to steal a snack when given the opportunity.  Oliver is still learning which items are his to chew, so some work on distinguishing his toys from household objects will help. He knows basic commands like “drop it” and is currently working on mastering “sit” and “lay down.”  

With his loving nature and eagerness to please, Oliver would make a great companion in a patient and nurturing home!

Meet 6 week old little River.

This lovely little cub is the brown bear amongst the polar bears. He appears to be the only pup that will have a long coat, oh is it ever soft! 

River weighs only 3 lbs, and is the chill & more relaxed boy of the litter.

He does love to play and roam about, but is always the first one to retreat and claim his spot back in the puppy bed for nap time. 

He will make a wonderful all around furry best friend.

Meet our cute little 6 week old Tundra. 

Tundra weighs 2.5 lbs and is available for adoption as of December 15th. 

He loves to play with his littermates and enjoys his chew toys. Tundra is usually the first one to run to greet you and will give you endless kisses. 

Tundra is the perfect balance of energetic and cuddly all rolled into a perfect little polar bear cub.

Meet Dean, 

This sweet boy is 6 months old and is a good old rescue mix = the sweetest breed out there. Dean was euth listed at the shelter and we got him and his brother Oliver out of there JUST in time! They have both landed safely in their foster homes, and are waiting for their forever to find them.

Dean is a gentle boy who is at ease with everyone he meets. He has an extremely calm demeanor and he loves kids. 

He walks on a leash quite well for his age. With consistency, he is almost perfect with his potty training. He seems to be crate trained and sleeps all night in it.

He is still learning not to shy away from new sounds, and he is slowly warming up to car rides, but he is gaining confidence as he is exposed to new situations.

He loves fresh air and playing outside, but he is also content lounging around inside with lots of affection from his human foster siblings. He is a smart, quick learner and full of so much love and sweetness.

Meet Dopey, Bandit and Oli's brother.

Meet Oli, Bandit and Dopey's brother.

Our cherished mama Gifty will be ready for her Furever home soon.  She is a 2 year old Chi mix and weighs 13 lbs.  

Gifty came into rescue after she was found dumped in a garden nursery in California. It was discovered she was pregnant and made her way to Barney’s Furry Friends where she gave birth to 5 beautiful puppies. 

From the moment she came off transport she has been an absolute gem, her tail literally never stops wagging. Gifty has proven to be an amazing mama to her pups, very protective and proud. 

Gifty is crate trained and fully house trained, she will ask to go outside. She loves to go out for walks and great on the leash. 

Gifty has been exposed to children in foster and loved & respected them. Toys are one of Gifty’s favourite treasures. She likes to collect them all in her dog bed, the louder the squeak the better! 

Food is another one of her favourite things, she can hear a food wrapper from afar! She is super cuddly and loves to snuggle on the couch with her family or furry friends. 

Gifty travels like a dream in the car. Will check out the sights for a few minutes, but quickly gets lulled to sleep. Gifty seems to get along with all friendly dogs and ignores the cats in her foster home.  She will bark initially when someone comes to the door, but otherwise usually very quiet in the house. 

This sweet girl deserves to find the most amazing home where she will get loved and pampered. It is her turn to feel safe, loved and special.

Plum is a sweet 4 year old little mix girl. 

She’s had quite the life before arriving at BFF and is now ready to settle in her forever home. Because she was found in the streets after fending for herself for months and getting her babies taken away from her, she’s a little wary of humans. But with the right people that will give her time to wind down, she will blossom into the sweetest girl.

She might do better in a home with older children that will respect her personal space, but she’s proven to be good with kids so far!

She loves to snuggle up in her bed, look out the window and play around. Her temperament is very gentle and calm, even though she likes to play with her foster brother. 

Plum can be dog selective, so a proper introduction with your dog or new friends is important for her to feel safe. She’s doing amazing with her foster brother and seeks his guidance to gain her confidence. She’s proven very curious and eager to learn! 

Plum is an absolute professional when it comes time to walk on a leash, no pulling and will wait for you at street corners if you ask her! 

She is still warming up to her new life in Canada and developing her personality now that she’s safe, so there’s so much more of her to be discovered!

Meet Norma, a sweet angel who ended up at the shelter and sat there for months unnoticed. She made it out just in time.

A bit about our dearest Norma: 

Don’t let my distinguished grey hairs fool you! I’m only 3 years old. I had a hard start  in life, but I’m a very good girl looking for her forever home!

If you like a lot of licks, I’m your gal! Though I’m a goofball, I’m also quiet and patient, only making the occasional cute noise to let you know I’m here! 

My foster family has another big Shepard mix and a cat, both of whom I did very well with (after proper introductions, of course) and I’m comfortable around men. 

I haven’t had an accident indoors, so long as you take me out 3-4 times a day, I should continue to be fine.

I sleep through the night in my crate and love hanging out in there during the day with the door open. It’s my safe comfy spot! I’m a bit skittish when big trucks and rollerbladers go by me, but I’m just taking in all the sounds and with your help and a trainer, I can work on things if any issues come up. 

Though I’m a bigger dog, I love naps and am growing cuddlier by the day. Though it would be nice, I don’t need a home with a yard and would fare totally well in an apartment as long as I can have a nice substantial sniffing walk in the afternoon. 

I go up and down in the elevator when my foster family takes me outside. 

Not sure about kids yet, but my foster parents think I’ll definitely fit right in with a couple or single person. I’d do well either as the only dog in the household or with other animal siblings. I will make someone very happy when I find my forever home, bringing lots of licks and loyal companionship.

Lenny is a small terrier mix full of sass and spunk. He is wickedly smart and picks up obedience tasks very easily- he’s currently in a training program and acing everything! 

His training program is one we will have to transfer over to his forever home. In order for Lenny to be successful, he doesn’t need a super dog savvy handler, but he needs an owner willing to put in the time and work and recognize he needs structure in his life, and definitely someone willing to implement what we’re recommending in terms of day-day life. Lenny is a laugh-a-day kind of dog. He’s always doing something hilarious, bordering on naughty personality is something he’s got a double order of. 

Lenny loves his walks, he would make an amazing partner for someone who enjoys the outdoors and hiking, or even running. as his markings dictate (they’re fondly referred to as raccoon hands) he’s got his walking shoes on.  

Lenny is so happy to just chill and relax in the house, he’s fully crate trained and sleeps in there at night and has breaks in it during the day, when he’s not in his crate he likes hanging out on his bed sleeping.   

Lenny could potentially live in another house hold with a balanced or two. However, SLOW and STEADY introductions would be mandatory. 

Formerly dog reactive and pully on walks, lenny now has a show level heel walk (we have to brag for the little guy).

He previously demonstrated human based reactivity, but we have not seen any since starting his training.   

Lenny should not have free unsupervised access to a yard. He’s shown that amount of freedom causes a wee titch of reactivity and stress, creating fall-out behaviours in other areas. So a house with a yard is definitely not required, but someone with time to walk him regularly is! 

No kids under 12, while great with some children and super loving Lenny has shown us that young children make him nervous, for his success we are saying no young children. 

Lenny has some very manageable separation anxiety which we will help his forever home with. He’s also shown he resource guards certain high value items, - like bully sticks, but not on the extreme side, again, something we would support his adopters with, and a training program currently in effect.

Lenny is SO deserving of a bed to rest his little raccoon hands and feet on.

Coca was confiscated from a cruelty case at just 11 months old. She all of a sudden found herself behind the bars on a cold cement floor, highly pregnant.. As per protocol at this particular shelter, they aborted all her 6 babies and put her back behind bars.. The next tragic thing? They put her on the euthanasia list.
Coca was petrified, and after seeing her sad, disappointed eyes at @savingriversideshelterdogs page we knew we had to bring her in.. She deserved more.. After having experienced so much heartbreak this girl couldn’t just die, she needed to get out! 

She was now a BFF dog, and on her way to a better future in Canada. 

Coca is a little heart-stealer, and is impossible not to fall in love with (we keep calling her an angel)! 

This sweet 1-year-old pup is a love sponge, soaking up every ounce of affection you have to offer. Her absolute favorite thing? Being by your side, of course! But don’t worry—she’s also totally cool with her alone time and can sleep peacefully in her own room.

Coca is a homebody at heart but is quickly discovering the joys of the outdoors! She’s starting to love zooming around the yard and taking leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. While she’s still figuring out how to make friends with other dogs, she’s getting there—one paw at a time. Dog parks aren’t her jam just yet, but with a little patience and love, she’s bound to blossom.

She’s a little shy meeting new people (and kiddos), but don’t let that fool you. After just 15 minutes, she’s all-in for snuggles and love. Coca is a work-in-progress when it comes to potty training, but she’s nearly there—just a few oopsies here and there.

The best part? Coca is a master of balance. She’s perfectly content being chill at home, snuggled up next to you, but also lights up when it’s playtime in the yard. Oh, and did we mention? This cuddle queen will happily be your personal heater all year round.

Meet the handsome boy Monty!

4 years old and weighing 20 lbs.

He may start off a bit shy, but once he feels at ease, he’s an affectionate and loving companion who will shower you with gentle kisses and cuddles. Monty is incredibly sweet and patient with everyone—adults, kids, and even other pets—making him an ideal addition to a family. 

Though he’s still working on his housetraining and learning not to mark indoors, Monty is a quick learner and very eager to please.

He’s a calm and laid-back guy who doesn’t seem to have separation anxiety, so you can rest easy knowing he’s content whether you’re home or away. 

Monty is a quiet soul by nature, though he’s still figuring out how to greet visitors without a little bark. With a little time and patience, this gentle boy is sure to blossom into the perfect, loving addition to any home.

Meet the beautiful scruffy girl named Egypt!

Egypt was dumped close to a construction site near a school. There she was found howling after her owners, hoping they’d come back.. Our dearest rescue partner Suzette came to the rescue, and with hot dogs in her trap, Egypt ran in and the door shut behind her. She was safe, and little did she know she’d soon find herself in a warm, safe foster home in Canada. 

A bit about the beautiful girl:

This sweet 17lb, 1.5-year-old terrier mix is all about kisses, cuddles, and being your best friend. Egypt has the perfect amount of energy, she loves car rides, walks, and of course, treats! Egypt is working hard on crate training and is doing great with house training too. She’s super social and gets along with other dogs.

Meet Oakley: The Cutest Little Bean! 

He is an 11-month-old adorable Chihuahua weighing about 9 pounds. With a heart as big as his personality, Oakley has the sweet temperament and just wants to be loved by his humans. He’s also a social butterfly who gets along great with other dogs (and even met some horses.)

When he’s not soaking up cuddles, Oakley enjoys short walks and car rides. However, his true passion is snuggling up on the couch, especially when there are treats involved! Oakley is great in his crate overnight and can be left on his own when foster mom is out.

Meet the beautiful Princess Nina.

This sweet girl was put in the shelter by most likely her own owner.. She sat there for months and was out of time. Again, another dog put on the euthanasia list. We almost didn’t get her in time, but an angel must of been watching over her, because at 4:17pm we got her. How? Because @tannerrigden said yes to bringing her in temporarily. And for that she is forever grateful.. 

A bit about Nina: 


Nina is a 2 year old Shepherd mix girl who weighs around 49 pounds and is likely done growing.  She has a smaller frame but solid structure. 

Nina is a sweet dog that quickly warms up to anyone she meets. She loves naps, chew toys, dryer balls and car rides. She loves to play fetch and can entertain herself throwing around her Kong toy.

This beautiful blue eyed girl is great with adults and gentle kids.  She is excited to meet other dogs and is working on her leash manners to do so.
She’s being crate trained and walks in voluntary for a quick nap when she wants. She sleeps through the night whether in her crate or left out on her bed.  Nina is potty trained and does her business outside, with no accidents in the home.

She will talk at you when left in the crate for a bit before she settles and calm down. She also has been tested being left out of her kennel and home alone without incident!

This respectful girl will watch the outside world from a window and eagerly greet you with full body tail wags and love when you come home.



If you’re looking for a medium energy dog who loves cuddles and to please her people, Nina is your girl.  She does well with short training sessions learning different commands for love or treats.

She is an adorable and sweet girl with endless love to give and will be a great addition to your family!

Meet Baby Noodles. 

The most loving, snuggly and friendly pupp you’ll probably ever meet?! (We’re not kidding).

The little boy is about 1 years old and weighs only 8lbs. He has a long sleek body, so we are almost certain he’s a whippet/chi mix. Noodles was found wandering the streets of California, and luckily walked into a lady’s home who offered to help. The lady contacted us and he became a BFF dog.

A bit about the little bean:

Noodles is friendly in every way possible, and is one of those dogs that will wag their tail at almost everything! He enjoy both humans and furry friends. Kids? Even better. Another puppy friend to play with? Yes please! 

Noodle bean is also fully housebroken and crate trained. He also walks well on leash and loves to go for walks with his foster family.

He’s 8lbs of absolute joy and love.. Whoever gets to adopt this angel will be so so lucky.

Meet Trixie and Pixie!

These 10 yr old Pomeranian sisters are the sweetest inseparable duo you will ever meet! Trixie is tan/blonde and weighs about 16lbs, Pixie is black and weighs 19lbs (both will need continued support on their weight loss journeys!). They are deflead, dewormed, up to date on their vaccines, microchipped, and spayed.

They were very sadly given up to a shelter in California as seniors. They struggled in the busy, loud shelter environment until a wonderful lady stepped up to foster them. They received the vet care and dental work they desperately needed and were tremendously loved until they found a ride up to beautiful BC!

They have been through so much in the last little while, but they haven’t let it dull their sparkle! 

They are quite shy to start but have opened up with their cute personalities quickly in their foster home. They happily greet you when you come home with tippy tappy feet and wagging tails. Once they trust you, they absolutely love pets and scratches. They will nudge you or give you a gentle paw for more pets and melt for ear and belly rubs. 

They are nervous of the world and haven’t been too keen to go for walks yet, but absolutely love going for wagon rides around the neighbourhood. Both will poop outside and are completely pee pad trained. 

Pixie is toothless and Trixie only has a few teeth left so they need to be fed a diet of softened kibble and wet food. They have very healthy appetites and are always excited for meal time!

Trixie and Pixie are extremely low maintenance and spend most of their days snoozing on a soft blanket or watching the world go by from the balcony. They are okay being left alone, but will also voluntarily go into their crate. Both will occasionally bark when they hear other dogs, but are overall quiet.

Trixie and Pixie would do best in a quiet, mature household that can show them patience,  trust and love them endlessly! 

To ensure their continued wellbeing, they will need to be adopted together - they are a bonded duo that have been through so much.

Meet our beautiful scruffy girl Calli 

This affectionate sweet girl is only 10 months old and weighs 12 lbs. 

Callie sleeps peacefully in her crate through the night, waiting patiently for morning walks. She’s house-trained and does her business in the yard no problem.

Callie is enthusiastic about her walks, but she’s still learning to manage her excitement around some people. Meet Russ, the patient and sweet soul who just wants to be close to you! 

He’s the kind of dog who’s happiest when sitting quietly by your side, often leaning in for a little extra affection. Russ is getting pretty good at responding to his name and is well on his way to being fully potty trained—he just needs a few regular outings in the morning, midday, and before bed to keep him on track.

Meet Willow, a 2-year-old adorable tan Chihuahua weighing just 10 pounds. 

This little angel was found hiding behind trees and plants in a huge nursery.. She was there for a week, before our rescue partner @logans_legacy29 came to the rescue and saved little Willow from the little jungle of plants she all of a sudden had ended up in.. Shortly after she was on her way to BFF.

Now that she’s been with us for a little while we’ve gotten to know her. Willow is a loving little soul with a heart full of joy who thrives on being surrounded by people. Whether she’s out for a walk or running around the house with boundless energy, she always brings a smile to everyone’s face. 

When the mood strikes, she gets a delightful case of the zoomies, darting around with impressive speed and agility.

Willow enjoys mealtime and prefers her kibble softened. Blueberries are her absolute favorite, and she lights up at the sight of them.

She is learning to enjoy her independence, entertaining herself when her foster family runs errands. Although she’s still working on being fully house trained, she has mastered pad training like a champ.

Lottie is a stunning bull terrier cross puppy looking for her perfect caring forever parent(s) after being saved from the euthanasia list and brought to Canada. Boy is she glad to be here!

Meet Dawson, the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet!

After spending 6 months in the shelter, this staff favorite always kept his upbeat spirit, capturing the hearts of everyone he met. He was moved from one shelter to another in hopes of finding a loving home, but time was running out.. Just when it seemed his luck had run out, we swooped in to save him! 

Dawson is simply amazing—so sweet, loving, and funny! Every day, he gets a little sweeter. He will thrive in a loving home and would make a fantastic farm dog—just be sure to let him inside for plenty of cuddles, because he deserves it!

At 44 lbs, this gentle, affectionate 2-year-old loves car rides, enjoys his wet and dry food, and is great with kids as well as both small and big dogs. He has a soft spot for cheese and comfy king-sized beds! 

Dawson is crate trained, but prefers to sleep in foster mom’s room or on his dog bed, whichever he chooses. He’ll need a bit of help with recall and potty training, but that’s to be expected after his time in the shelter.

Meet the tiniest little boy named Piñata. 

Piñata was very sadly abandoned by his owner. He was tied to a tree and left to fend for himself without being able to run away. He waited for his owner to come back, but he never came..

There he was all alone tied up to a tree in a neighborhood where coyotes roam at night. Somehow the little guy survived the night, and the next day he was rescued. 

 He will never have to worry about being abandoned again, he’s a BFF dog now ❤️

Pinata is about 2 years old and weighs only 6lbs! 

Piñata is a snuggly little fella who loves to make his people laugh. He’s a big cuddler and also enjoys to play with his stuffies and balls. He is also a pro at walking on two legs! 

Pinata will greet you with kisses when you come home, and offer endless snuggles. He likes to run when he goes for walks, but will also happily be trotting next to his human.

Pinata can be a little leash reactive towards other dogs, and will need someone who can work with him on that. We believe it’s fear based from being defenceless tied up to the pole the day he was left behind.

Meet Tip Toe and her cute big puppy ears!

Tiptoe is a sweet pup who’s still learning what it means to be a dog. 

She’s young and eager to play, sometimes she’s a bit unsure of herself, but her confidence will grow each day with love . While she can be shy to walk, we usually encourage her by having her follow our house dog. 

Tiptoe is gentle, loves cuddles, and has so much love to give. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and older children, though loud noises from younger kids can make her a little nervous. 

Every day, we see her confidence growing, and we know she’s going to be an amazing dog!

Sweet Chevy is a 2 year old Chihuahua cross weighing about 13 pounds. 

Chevy was one of the lucky ones to be saved after being abandoned in a park in California.  While he came to Canada initially being fearful of his new environment he is quickly coming out of his shell and is extremely loving. 

Chevy loves to run zoomies in the yard and is also excellent on leash. He gets along great with other dogs and having a canine pal in the home does give him confidence, but not necessary. 

He is learning what cats are, being both curious and fearful of them, but not aggressive at all so with proper introductions a feline housemate could work. He loves to play with toys and engage with play with other dogs. He is treat/food motivated and has learned to sit. 

Chevy is 100% housetrained and travels well in the car.  While his foster mom works, he quietly sleeps under her desk on his bed. He is crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night beside the fosters bed and does not make a peep.

Chevy's wish list would include someone that is home most of the time as he thrives off human company and would love a yard to run & play. Chevy is initially fearful of men, but does learn to trust them with patience fairly quickly.  This boy will add so much love and laughter to his new family.

Meet Belle a 6 month old shepherd mix, weighing around 30 pounds.   

Belle is an intelligent little puppy and  a fast learner. She is currently being trained and is making great progress.

Fully house-trained and super easygoing, he gets along wonderfully with the fosters own dog.

Meet our wonderful little girl named Delilah. 

Delilah was stuck in the shelter, and ended up on the euthanasia list with her friend Darla. Little did they both know that life was about to turn for the better. Delilah and Darla became BFF dogs, and never have to worry about ending up at the shelter ever again. 

After Delilah came to Canada, we have quickly learnt that she's

always happy, wags her tail nonstop, and is full of energy and playfulness.   

Cuddly and affectionate, she loves a good head massage—once you start, you aren't allowed to stop, she will grab your hand and ask you to continue! 

Delilah is super friendly, and loves to approach everyone for pets and has been great with other dogs. 

She doesn't get bothered by noise, whether it’s neighbours in the condo or traffic during walks. She has also been very quiet, we still haven't heard her bark. 

She gets nervous when one of the foster mama's are not around, and may need some training on how to be on her own.

Meet Gibson, Gibbs or Ginny.

He is darling pug who is about 3 years old. Gibbs came to us from California in early September and is currently settling into his new surroundings. 

Gibbs is best described as a chill little dude learning about the exciting new world around him. He is still a bit shy, but getting better each day, and with a little patience and practice he will be there in no time.  

He enjoys going for walks, but isn't a big fan of the longer ones. He would love a backyard or park nearby to keep me active.  

Gibbs currently lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home and they get along great. He seems quite willing to socialize with them, and could probably benefit from outings with other dogs to learn from them.

Meet the absolute sweetest boy, little Puff. 

Puff was found on the streets of California, and made his way to BFF in August. 

Puff is about 1-2 years old and weighs 14 lbs. He has plenty of energy and loves to zoom around in the yard playing with his foster sister Matilda. 

Puff is shy to start, but as soon as he realizes you'll snuggle and love him, he opens up and invites you in.

Our shy girl Unity is an absolute joy!

She is such a smart girl who loves dogs, cats horses and all little animals! She pays no mind to small bunnies and has no urge to chase or bite anything. 

While she still sometimes gets nervous on walks, she is improving so much and can walk by people and dogs with no problem. She walks well on a leash and loves her meal times and many treats! She doesn’t bark or bite and is learning to love pets on her chest. 

Her curtrent best friends are two rambunctious herding dogs that she shares the love of zoomies and peanut butter.

Meet Bethany!

Bethany is a delightful 3 year old girl, who is sweet as she is smart. 

With a loving heart and a playful spirit she has a special knack for winning over everyone she meets. She loves her people and likes to greet new people friends too!

Bethany has so far shown that she can be selective with dogs, some she loves, and some she doesn't. 

She enjoys sleeping in her crate over night, and is exceptionally excited to see you in the morning!
She’s incredibly affectionate and intelligent.

She does have a bit of a learning curve ahead of her with leash manners and being away from her people, but her eagerness to please and her loving nature make her a wonderful candidate for someone willing to offer a bit of patience.

Meet the super cute boy named Parker, with the sweetest little bat ears and irresistible underbite.

Parker was found as a stray, and ended up at the shelter. He sat there for so long they were about to euthanize him, but then another shelter welcomed him in the day he was suppose to be put down. There he didn’t have any interest either, but what he did have was a very nice shelter worker who reached out asking if we could please take him on, and shortly after he was on his way to BFF.

Parker is just one years old, weighs 27 pounds, and is in great health.

He’s looking for a family who can teach him some tricks, lots of toy time and of course, night time cuddles. 

He would do great in a home with another dog as he’s very dog friendly. He’s totally chill with cats as well! He met one at the vet and he was great with him. 

On leash he’s done very well and has already overcome his fear of stairs. He’s now first to go up and down and through doors. He does love to find a good patch of grass and do a barrel roll for some belly rubs. 

Parker is close to a dream come true, and deserves nothing but the very best home.

Meet Frodo, our Riverside shelter euth survivor.

Frodo is one of a kind, that's for sure. But don't let those short legs fool you, this little man is mighty! 

He has the biggest heart and will give you as much love as you give to him. He is the most easy going, chill little guy. He can easily jump up onto the couch, but prefers to sleep and relax on his dog bed (with a blanket).
So far, he has been a very quiet dog. With neighboring dogs barking, he hasn't reciprocated once. 

Frodo absolutely loves his walks! He gets so excited when  you pull out his leash, but will stand so patiently while being harnessed.  His walking skills are fantastic and he does not pull one bit. He is very curious and loves to explore with his nose. He especially loves to walk along the sidewalk curbs like a balance beam! 

It seems clear to us that Frodo has lived in a home before. He knows how to sit and come when called.  He is very food motivated, so that will aid in his continued training.

This little man is very smart, obedient, and always aware of what is going on.

Frodo has been great in the vehicle and  loves going for truck rides with his foster dad! Frodo has had the chance to meet some older kids, and was fantastic with all of them. 

At the end of the day, this sweet boy just wants to be loved.  He is absolutely one of a kind and will no doubt garner attention wherever he goes.

Meet our sweet senior girl, Bella!

Bella has been a quiet girl since arriving to Canada, but her playful spunky personality is starting to emerge every day. She is now playing with toys and will get short spurts of the zoomies!

She is a very uncomplicated dog, enjoys the slow pace life and would be perfect for someone looking for a faithful loyal companion. 

Bella is crate trained and sleeps in her crate overnight without a peep although she probably would prefer to sleep on the bed with her people. She is housetrained, but will use a pee pad if provided which is great for apartment/condo living. 

Bella loves her walks, is fantastic on leash and great in the car. 

She gets along great with other dogs but would be fine on her own as well. Bella has a very keen interest in the cats at her foster home so we do recommend a home with no cats. 

Bella has met older children and is very respectful, but she would probably prefer a quieter home for her retirement years.

Meet this total cutie: Coconut!

His rescue journey started with months alone in a parking lot as a stray; hair matted, eating scraps, and terrified of the kind humans who tried to rescue him.  

It’s hard to believe this is the same dog. 

Coconut is eager to learn and trust humans again. In just a few days he learned to walk on a leash, tackled stairs, and bonded with the family cat, dog, and even bunnies! He’s okay in a car and in a crate, although he much prefers to be snuggled next to his human! 

He is a super chill dog who hasn’t barked or whined and has shown zero aggression. He mostly just likes to take long naps, cuddle on the couch, and go on walks. 

Coconut is great with kids and other pets! Overall, he’s just the perfect little sweetheart that will do well in a family willing to give him the time and love he so much deserves.

Chay is a tiny bundle of joy weighing just 10 lbs. At approximately 3 years old, this little survivor has already faced incredible challenges. He was found abandoned in an area teeming with coyotes in California, where vigilant neighbors spotted him on their cameras, wide awake and alert, unable to sleep due to the danger surrounding him.

Despite his tough start, Chay has a heart full of love. He’s a super friendly and affectionate little boy who adores snuggling, playing, and sleeping right next to you. Chay would thrive in a home with another furry friend or on his own. Though he may take a bit of time to warm up, once he does, he promises to be your loyal companion forever.

Meet our sweetest terrier Princess,
named Erika.

Erika was found on the streets of California, most likely dumped.. She weighs 19 lbs and is 1.5 years old. 

Erika is a shy sweet girl, who is slowly coming out of her shell. She likes other dogs, but is saying no thanks to any long walks yet! Resting and snuggling with her foster moms is more Erika’s jam.

She’s not bothered by loud sounds, and hasn’t made a peep just yet! Erika is a calm, shy and very sweet girl who can’t wait to find her forever family.

Meet Ringo! A 3 yr old Chihuahua mix with a beautiful chocolate brown coat and the cutest little face! 

 Ringo is a shy, sensitive soul that has a sweet, gentle disposition. He enjoys being pet (you could pet him until your hand gets tired), will accept attention from strangers and is comfortable with being picked up and handled.  

Ringo is getting more comfortable with being on a leash and has successfully walked by people, dogs, and bikes. He even gets happy little zoomies when he’s at the beach! Ringo seems content to also just sit and watch the world go by at a park.  He seems to love other dogs and would benefit from a fursibling, or regular social outings with other dogs that can show him how fun being a dog is! 

Ringo came nose to nose with the vet office cat and didn’t react, so likely could coexist well with a kitty friend.  He can still be timid around loud noises or fast movements, so an adult only home, or one with older, dog saavy kids would suit him best.  

He rides perfectly in the car and will be the perfect companion for adventures as he continues to build his confidence.   Ringo was found as a stray and is still quite nervous of the big world around him. With lots of love and patience, he will without a doubt flourish into the best little dog!

Meet our Doberman mix, Cal!

Cal is a super playful and gentle dog! He is a happy puppy and loves to chase the ball.. Although we are still working on bringing it back! The vet says I am a Doberman mix and I am 4 months old. I weigh 23 lbs right now and am expected to continue to grow.

He loves any and all humans, but is still a bit aware of other dogs, especially big ones! He is learning to walk on a leash and is picking it up really quickly! Cal has also learnt how to sit, and loves to learn.

Meet handsome Caleb!

Caleb was dumped along with Cooper in an industrial area in California. There he sat waiting for his owner to come back, but he/she never did. Luckily Suzette from Logan’s Legacy was informed of the two pups, and came to their rescue. From there we welcomed both 

Caleb and Cooper into BFF and they’re both being loved back to life by their wonderful foster families. 

Caleb is a very sweet and loving boy, that takes a bit of time to warm up, but once he does he will love you endlessly. He’s about 1.5 years old and weighs 28lbs. 

The handsome boy loves his walks and he also can’t get enough snuggles. Caleb will make someone very happy, and can’t wait to find his forever family.

Meet Cooper, the sweetest love bug!

After being abandoned in a rural area of LA at approximately 2 years old, this angel still has some faith in humans left in him. He is scared and cautious at first but as soon as he knows he is safe, he opens up and gives us the gift of his love. He will follow you around in the hopes to get as many snuggles as he can. He also knows when to take time for himself and does great sleeping alone. 

Cooper is in a foster home with another dog and two cats and he’s cohabiting very well with all of them! Cooper loves to play and meet other dogs, but is still careful with humans he just met. Took him only one day to learn how to walk on a leash and he is proving us everyday that he has everything to be a great dog! He just needs someone with patience and lots of love to show him what safety feels like! 

He is eager to please and be a good boy. He’s very funny and quirky and will zoom around when you give him a treat or when he’s overcome with joy. A real bundle of love and sunshine. I hope you love to cuddle on the couch because that’s his favourite thing to do  

Cooper will be the perfect partner in crime for adventures too as he’s doing great in the car and is super curious on his surroundings. He’s ready to make your heart melt with all the love he’s still got in him

Meet our sweet innocent lovebug, Milly!

Milly is a happy and playful girl who loves everyone she meets! She loves to snuggle and relax, but also play with her foster sister and go for long walks. Her foster cat friend is also a favourite of hers!

Specialty: Milly is super bouncy and will jump right into your arms when you get home. 🩷

Milly weighs 15 lbs and is 1.5 years old, she’d do great in most homes as she’s a very easygoing, loving little angel!

This is Cupcake, a gentle, quiet, and well-mannered little lady. 

Cupcake is about 12lbs, but can benefit from a few more. Even though she’s young, about a year old, her calmness makes her an excellent candidate around kids, other dogs, and cats! 

She walks well on a leash and her easy-going nature means she’s up for anything from going on walks to napping on the couch. Bonus, she’s already housebroken! 

Cupcake is the sweetest little girl and would easily fit into most households.

Meet the sweetest boy Wynton. 

Wynton was found dumped in California, and our rescue partner came to the rescue and got him in from the scary street life he all of a sudden found himself in. From there he made his way to us, and he's currently being loved and taken good care of by his foster mom in Port Coquitlam. 

Wynton is a beagle mix and his beautiful black markings reminds us of a baby cow, hence the nickname. He weighs 28 lbs and is about 4 years old. 

Wynton is a friendly, relaxed and loving boy, and would do good in most households. 

Fostermom says he loves to go for walks and would make a great hiking or trail buddy.

Meet Mr. Odessey!

Odessey is a spaniel mix, and is about 2 years old and weighs 14 lbs. 

He was rescued off the streets in California, and made his way to us on May 25th. 

He was quite shy and unsure to start, but is slowly warming up to his fosters. 

He loves to be loved and snuggled, and is learning that life outside his foster home isn't so scary after all. 

Odessey would do best in a home that's calm and peaceful, where he can continue to decompress and learn that life can be good, humans can be good. 

He's a wonderful sweet boy, and he can't wait to find his forever person.

Meet our miracle girl named Karma, rescued on Valentine’s Day. 

Karma was euth listed at Riverside Shelter for being kennel stressed. She dropped offline, and we all thought she was gone. Little did we know she was still alive. The power went out by a miracle, so they had to postpone her euthanasia on February 11th, and after two incredible fosters stepped up and said yes we want to help save her, we got everything arranged within an hour on Valentines Day, and Karma was SAVED by a pure miracle. 

This dog truly has angels watching her, and we are so grateful you’re here with us. Safe, loved and cared for. 

Whoever the lucky family is who gets to adopt her, will be glad fate intervened for Karma to be part of Barney’s Furry Friends Rescue.

Karma is a shy and careful dog with new people. However, if you are willing to be patient and understanding (and willing to give her lots of treats!), Karma will bond with her person. While nervous with people, Karma LOVES dogs. She is great with dogs big, medium and small. She has played with St. Bernards to small toy poodles.

She is great in the car, and is easy to travel with. Karma absolutely loves snuggles on the couch, going on walks and doing happy ‘zoomies’ in the yard. She would make a great running or hiking partner.

She would do well with another dog in the home or someone who likes to go to dog parks where she can make new doggy friends. Karma is a sweet, affectionate and cuddly dog who will make someone very happy!

Karma is approximately 2 years old and weighs 50 lbs. She’s a wonderful mix of miracle and pure love.

Pirate ended up at Riverside Shelter in mid December 2023. He was such a friendly loving boy, it bought him some extra time. In March his time was up, and he was placed on the euth list.

Transport was too far away, but we intended on saving Pirate. Something felt extra special about this boy. He couldn't just have waited for so long, for nothing. We raised the boarding costs for Pirate from our supportive community, and Pirate walked out of the shelter free, forever!

Pirate is about 1 years old, and is a lab/retriever mix. He's a bundle of absolute JOY and energy. Pirate is already neutered and up to date on all his vaccines, dewormed + microchipped.

Pirate's ideal home would be with an active family who can promise him weekly hikes and plenty of fun socializing as he's a social butterfly with both dogs and people.

Meet the our mini golden Rusty!

Rusty came from California on May 25th, and started his new life in Canada. He is around 4 years old and weighs 18 lbs. 

Rusty’s story is heart breaking, as his owner left him  

For 4 years Rusty lived at the car shop with his owner, loyal and always there by his owners side. Then one cold day the owner decided to close up shop, and left both the shop and Rusty behind. Confused and sad, Rusty waited and waited for his owner to come back.. but he never did. 

After a while a very kind lady came to rescue him in from the cold, and shortly after he made his way to us. Rusty had to be medically shaved all the way down as he was covered in oil and very matted.

Rusty loves people and other dogs, and always look forward to his daily walks. He is food motivated and will do almost anything for a piece of something yummy to eat. He’s nervous around men, and needs some training and reassurance that men are good too. 

He can be a bit shy to start, but as soon as you build his trust he will show his great character
At home he relaxes on his bed or on the couch, and is a very relaxed boy.

Meet our wonderful Princess Gina. 

Gina came into our rescue after her owner died in a car accident. Ever since Gina has felt down and confused all of a sudden loosing her person. 

The day Gina arrived in Canada, there was a man filling up his motercycle with gas across from us. Gina was sitting in quietly in her crate, and the man could not help looking over. After a little while he walked over and asked who this beautiful dog was, and explained he had recently lost his own dog. He fell in love with Gina, and that same week he came out to meet her again, and there wasn't a doubt in his mind that she had to come home with him and his family. 

The universe brought Gina home, and she has found her forever person. It couldn't of been more meant to be.

Meet our tall kangaroo Olivia!

Olivia is just a year old and weighs 16 lbs. She's thought to be a greyhound mix because of her height and speed, hence the nickname Kangaroo. 

She is as friendly as they come, and loves to be near her person. The first thing she did when she arrived, was jumping up on us with her sleek long legs asking for cuddles! 

Olivia loves a good run and is great off leash, she loves to stick to her person. She also likes to spend lots of time chilling and cuddling when she's not out running on the trails. She's good with mellow dogs, but is still trying to figure out what playtime means with the more hyper ones. 

Olivia is fully potty trained, so she won't leave you any surprises!

Olivia would do well in most homes, and can't wait to find her forever home!

Meet the sweetest little girl named Anica. 

Anica is about 4 years old and weighs 10 lbs. She's the cutest little terrier mix, rescued from the streets of California. 

Anica is shy to start, but just the sweetest little angel. She was only fostered for a few days before the foster family decided she is staying. Another wonderful foster fail story! We love those the most.

FOSTER FAIL :)

Meet Baz, a sweet loving puppy who sat in the shelter for over 4 months hoping to be seen and saved. After the 4 months passed and nobody came, he along with his 2 siblings ended up on the euthanasia list. That’s when we asked you guys for help, we needed a committed foster to say yes, and Baz’s wonderful foster mom said yes to saving this angel.

Baz is the sweetest pup you could ask for! He’s still learning that the world isn’t so scary, and growing more confident and into himself each day. 

We think he’s a Shepherd/Staffy mix, he’s about 35lbs, so will probably be on the smaller side. His people and k9 companions make him feel safe. So we think he’d do best in a home with another loving dog who can continue to show him that life can be good. 

He is calm natured and very well behaved. He’ll have no accidents if taken out every 3-4 hours. He is a bit slow on leash as everything is still new to him, but he stays close to your side. He sleeps perfectly in his crate at night, although he’d prefer to cuddle. He is also living with cats, and he’s not so sure about them, but doesn’t chase.

Baz is 8 months old and has waited for so long for someone to notice him. We can’t wait to find Baz his forever home and promise him he’ll never be left behind again.

Meet our 1 year old Chi mix Downey. 

Downey weighs about 13 lbs and is a body & soul full of love to share. 

He loves people, especially his own people. He warms up to others very quickly and loves attention and a lap to sit on. 

He loves to play, snooze, play and snooze. He likes to play with both people, dogs and his favourite toys. 

He is social with small furry friends, but he's more hesitant around bigger dogs. 

He would do well in a home with another small dog, or no dogs. Downey is also doing very well with his potty training, and as long as you let him out often enough, he won't have accidents inside.

Downey is overall a very smart, affectionate and loving little boy. He deserves a calm and patient home that will wrap around him and make him feel the love and safety he finally deserves.

Meet our cutie Terrier Bolek,

Bolek along with his brother Lolek all of a sudden found themselves in a scary shelter, and was quickly put on the euthanasia list for being nervous/unsocial. Little did they know they were about to live their happily ever after in Canada.

So far we've learnt that Bolek is a curious young pup! 

Aside from his full time job as a sniffing machine, he enjoys snuggling with his brother and the closest human in reach. Bolek loves attention and he really enjoys being sang to! 

As a stray, toys are a foreign object, but with time, his playful nature will take its course! While his brother is slightly more patient, Bolek is still learning to play with cats. He shows no signs of any aggression towards felines, he is simply just learning the species boundaries. 

Like all dogs, Bolek requires an attentive owner willing to snuggle (a lot), play and show this ex-stray a life he has always deserved.

Reed once had a home, one rainy day he all of a sudden found himself all alone  in a strange neighbourhood. His family was gone. Our rescue partner came to his rescue and found him soaking wet shivering in the rain. He was so scared, but he was also very hungry and could not resist the hotdogs in the trap. He walked in, and that was his last day of uncertainty and being left behind. 

Reed has been scarred like anyone would being abandoned by their owner in a cold and strange world. He is slowly learning to trust his fosters, but he already is showing how much he wants to be loved. He loves being pet, held and loved, it just takes him some time to trust if he's not familiar with you. 

Reed would do best in a home with a small dog, or no dogs. No kids for Reed, as he prefers the calm and quiet. 

He will love and trust, if you can give him the time, love and care he needs. 

Reed is 1 years old and weighs 11 lbs.

Meet our tiny boy, Beans. 

Beans was found living out on the street. He was just skin and bones, and extremely dirty. He was also so frightened, but even being petrified at one point and nervous to start with new people, he's never shown anything, but gentleness and love. 

Beans is about 7 years old, and is as tiny as they come, weighing just 10 lbs. He has some weight and confidence to gain, and his foster dad is doing an excellent job at helping him with improving both. 

Beans is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready for his forever home. 

We believe Beans would thrive in a quiet, loving home where he will have time, patience and endless love to help him find back to his confident and relaxed self.

Ruru gets to live her happily ever after with her foster family, now forever family! Happy Tails to our miracle dog Ruru. 

Ruru has a very sad and challenging story, and the one who will be so lucky to adopt her, will get a dog who will need A LOT of love, care and patience for the rest of her life.

Ruru was born in a hoarding house with 40+ dogs. She then went on to have litters of puppies, living in filth and just inhumane conditions. On June 22nd, animal control came and picked up all the dogs, and they ended up at Riverside shelter. There they sat frightened, listening to hundreds of other dogs bark all day and night long.

Some got adopted, but Ruru was still sitting in her kennel 2 months later waiting for someone to rescue her. She ended up on the red list, and that's the last list you make it too at the shelter, and it means you're cleared for euthanasia.

When we saw her shelter picture, and heard her story, we called the shelter immediately and said we want to save her, and from there Ruru made it out and is now a member of Barney's Furry Friends Rescue.

She arrived on August 20th in Coquitlam, and was terrified when she arrived. She had sat still in the shelter for 2 months, and then 2 weeks of boarding, no wonder she was scared. We also found out she had a litter just before she was taken in to the shelter, so this poor sweet mama has been through way too much in her life so far.

The good news is: she is safe, and she is now being loved and nurtured back to life by her wonderful foster parents and their dog Molly. She is still scared, especially by loud noises. No wonder.. Listening to constant barking for 2 1/2 months in a strange place, will affect you.

Ruru's ideal home would be with another dog, as she loves other dogs, and need that safety net to help her continue to learn to be a happy dog in a normal, loving and caring home.

Ruru's owner will have to be very patient with her, giving her time to continue to blossom, and know that she has had a very rough life, and she is going to take some work, but oh my will it be worth it. Dogs like Ruru will blow your mind in how they transform, and definitely be worth every effort.

Lolek all of a sudden found himself in a scary loud shelter, and didn't know exactly how to react except showing he was scared to be there. He was quickly euth listed along with his brother Bolek, but little did they know their happily ever after would soon be in Canada.

Lolek - the epitome of gentleness wrapped in fur. This affectionate boy adores kisses, snuggles, and belly rubs during nap time. 

Lolek is a quick learner, mastering commands like "no" and "stay" with impressive speed. Despite his messy beginnings, he now dines with the elegance of a royal dinner guest at the Palace with the late Queen’s Corgies. 

Although he currently shares his home with two cats, Lolek's respectful nature makes him a perfect companion for both feline and canine friends alike.

Lolek is 3 years old and weighs 13 lbs.

Meet our sweetest boy Copper!

Copper was abandoned by his owner, and ended up in a high kill shelter, where he was quickly euth listed for being scared.

When Copper first arrived in Canada he was very afraid, after only three days he is starting to come out of his shell and show his sweet, and playful personality.

 He is doing so well walking on the leash and loves to look at the cats and bunny’s in our neighbourhood or the other dogs walking by. On the nice sunny days he finds his spot right in the sun soaking up the warmth. 

Copper is a very quiet guy and we have not heard him bark at all yet. He has gotten along perfectly with his foster sister and is learning a lot of his confidence from her! He does not chase our cats, rather he loves to watch them so he would do great with another animal in the house! 

We are seeing major improvements every day with this little guy and we can’t wait to see how he will flourish in his forever home. 

Copper would do best in a quiet home, with someone who has the time, love and patience to let him come out of his shell and learn to trust again. He would love another doggie friend, as we believe he'd learn a lot by having another dog by his side.

Meet Mama Missy, 

Little Missy was abandoned in her own home along with 5 other dogs. She then ended up in the shelter, where she was quickly added to the euth list for being nervous and scared. Little did she know she'd soon find herself on her way to Canada to BFF.

Shortly after Missy arrived we found out she was pregnant, and just 2 weeks later she gave birth to 4 beautiful babies. 

Now her babies have found their forever homes, and Missy is ready to find hers. 

Missy has been very busy taking care of her babies, and we can't wait to find her a home where she can decompress and finally just be the only dog to be loved and taken care of. 

Missy would do best in a household without kids, and as the only dog as we think she really craves that one on one connection with her human. Someone who's around more than gone would also be preferred. 

Missy is about 2 years old and weighs 12 lbs. She's very cuddly, and loves to sleep with her human. Missy hasn't gotten a lot of outdoor time yet, so she's a little unsure of what it's all about, and will need a patient, caring dog parent who can lead the way and show her that the outside is just as good as the inside of her home.

Little Dale along with his 3 other siblings was born on Feburary 25th this year.
His mom was abandoned in California, and then ended up in the shelter. She was very nervous and was quickly euth listed. Soon she found herself on her way to Vancouver BC.

Little did we know mama, named Missy by her foster mom, was pregnant. 2 weeks after arrival, Missy gave birth to 4 beautiful puppies.

Dale is the runt of the litter, and will probably be on the smaller side. Missy is 15 lbs, so he's expected to be no bigger than that when he's fully grown. Dale was the first one of the litter mates who figured out how to navigate the floor, and get out of the playpen. He seems to be quite clever, and brave too!
He is like puppies most, loves to play, eat, snuggle and repeat.

Meet our beautiful Queen Luna! 

Luna found herself 

Luna is a beautiful girl (best breed guess: lab-pittie mix) with a heart as golden as the colour of her fur! She is about 2-3 years old and currently weighs about 45 lbs. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations, and will be spayed shortly (she appears to have already been a mom at some point in her past). 

Luna is trusting and gentle with all of the people she's met and simply wants to be where the humans are. She is perfectly content to hang out and have a quiet day at home, but is also game for any fun adventure that comes her way (she crossed the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge with no fear)!  Luna is very dog social - on walks she will whine and pull a bit when she sees other pups that she can't say hello to. 

She would make a great second dog, but would also be perfectly happy with social time at the dog park!  

 She hasn't been officially tested with cats, but didn't seem bothered by the vet clinic cat. She would likely be fine with feline friends. Luna has demonstrated no aggression and limited prey drive. 

Luna is great in the car, usually just laying down on the back seat, or curled up in the front passenger seat. She is respectful of the foster home and shows no interest in jumping onto furniture (even when invited) - her comfy dog bed is her happy place! 

Luna sleeps through the night on her bed without making a peep until her foster mom wakes up.  Luna is 100% house broken and hasn't had any accidents since arriving in Canada.  

She is being fostered in an apartment and has adjusted smoothly to elevators, stairs and all the sights and sounds of this living environment. Luna's foster mom simply can't say enough good things about how fantastic of a dog she is. Her sweet, gentle disposition shines through every day and it's a joy to see her confidence and personality bloom. She will have so much love to give to her very lucky forever family!

Meet the most beautiful girl, Sky. 

Sky came to Barney's Furry Friends as an owner surrender. Her mom and dad went through a separation, and after awhile the dad couldn't keep her anymore, so they surrendered her to us. 

Sky is 6 years old and is an absolute dream. 

She loves both people and dogs, and is cuddly and playful!

She also gets along with cats. 

Sky is originally from Manitoba, but is now a BC girl, being fostered in East Vancouver with another dog and 2 children. 

This lovely girl deserves to go to a home that promises to love her forever, and never let her go. Sky would do best in a home as the only dog.

Blair is probably the biggest miracle we've ever been so lucky to have saved.

Blair was stuck at Riverside shelter for only about 2 weeks, before she was put on the euth list. With a runny nose and being a pittie, her chances of making it out were slim. When we saw her, we knew we needed to save her, and after a lot of work, we finally managed to find a foster who said YES to fostering her. Which meant we got to save her life.

Blair is an absolute angel of a dog, and loves humans. She is like most pitties, happy - go lucky, who loves to be with her human.

Blair is about a year old and weighs 48 lbs. Whoever gets to welcome Blair in to their life will be the luckiest. She is truly a miracle, and we are so grateful to have welcomed her in to our rescue.

We think Blair would be the happiest living with another furry friend, as she has some separation anxiety. Her ideal family would also be more with her than gone. She'll need some training and patience being left on her own, but we do believe she'll to a lot better on her own if she has a furry friend beside her.

Meet the sweetest girl named Charlotte. One of many Riverside shelter survivors. 

Charlotte came into the shelter as a stray, and was suspected pregnant. She was quickly spayed by the shelter, to prevent more unwanted dogs from entering the world. 

Charlotte arrived to Canada on April13th, and arrived with such an easygoingness, it truly describes her personality well. 

Charlotte wants to be near her human, and loves to cuddle up. She also enjoys other dogs, and is easygoing with new people. Nothing seem to really bother her. She has such a good outlook on life it is inspiring to see. 

Charlotte would do well in most loving, committed and caring homes. We can't wait to find Miss Charlotte her forever home.

Meet our little Buzz, 

Buzz was found on the street along with our other rescue boy Snowball. Both dumped by their owners, they found comfort in each other while living on the street. Soon enough our dearest rescue partner came to their rescue, and they were both safely brought into Barney's Furry Friends Rescue. 

Buzz is about 6 months old and weighs 12 lbs, and is a fun little boy filled with lots of playful puppy love. He gets along with both people and other dogs.

Meet Mr. Donovan! He was rescued from a truck dealership parking lot just off of the highway where he was abandoned by his previous family. There he sat day in and day out, waiting for them to come back, but they never did. That’s when our amazing rescue partner Suzette and her team came in and saved this precious boy.

Donovan is 13 pounds and estimated to be around 2 years old. He made his way to Canada on March 17th and is looking for his furever family.

Donovan is a cautious, sweet little doggo who will take a little bit to open up but when he does, he is the biggest love bug. He lives for being close to his humans for cuddles and loves a good belly rub.

Throughout the day, he is comfortable enough going to take a nap on the couch or relax somewhere, sometimes checking on what you’re doing, other times doing his own thing. Currently he is sleeping on the bed in a little ball, but would likely be comfortable sleeping on his dog bed or in his crate, as he does spend chunks of his day resting in there.

Donovan loves to be outside and sniff things. He especially loves finding little holes he can shove his nose into! He is pretty good on leash and is learning to stay on one side when walking.

Meet tiny Pongo!

Pongo found himself in a scary high kill shelter, and was quickly euth listed for being scared. We quickly pulled him, and he found himself on his way to Canada on March 16th.

After a few days with Pongo, we've quickly realized he is the sweetest, easiest pup to have around.

He settles in quickly and loves to snuggle up in a blanket next to you at home. He gets super excited when he sees his leash/harness and knows when it’s time to go outside! 

He loves long walks and is very social - he wants to say hi to every person and dog he sees. He sleeps through the night on his own with no issues, and uses the bathroom outside. 

He also knows basic commands and is a quick learner! It’s hard not to fall in love with this little guy. His forever family is going to be so lucky to have him. 

Pongo is 1 years old, weighs 10 lbs, and is a chi mix!

Finnegan, a.k.a Fantastic Finn, is a 1-year old loveable, cuddly little bouncing bean! 

He is an intelligent little man and is learning basic commands. He had a very long journey to Canada and is learning how to be on his own for long periods of time, but sleeps very well alone in his kennel at bedtime.

Finn is very intelligent and curious. He has been cat tested and can live lovingly with both cats and dogs. He adores playing with dogs of all shapes and sizes! 

He is wary, but curious of new people, and made incredible progress with trusting men in only the first few days! 

Finn would do well in a household that has the time and patience to continue training. He loves to know that he is a good boy and would make the most incredible addition to any home!

Meet our sweetest little pughuahua Dash.

Dash was rescued off the streets in Mexico, and made his way to Canada on February 10th.

So far we think Dash would do well in a relaxed family environment. He is a very relaxed and zen dog, who often does some pretty cool yoga stretches.

He is super snuggly, and loves to lie on top or beside you for cuddles. He's independent enough where he won't follow every step you take. He trusts that you will come back to pet him soon.

Dash loves to sleep under the covers, but will also accept to sleep on his dog bed.

He is slowly getting used to the outdoors and walking comfortably with his fostermom. Things seem a bit scary to start, but he is improving everyday.

Dash can't wait to find his forever family, and to be loved forever.

Sweet Maggie-magoo (a nickname provided by her foster family) is a calm young dog (3.5 years old) from Mexico. Her foster family says that she is well trained and will tell you when she needs to go out by touching the door. She can stay at home by herself for extended periods of time and curls up on the couch or her foster brothers mat and snoozes. She does not bark when people come to the door or when she hears people walk through the hallways.

Maggie came from a home with 7 other dogs so she has a learned behaviour of having to be challenged to eat. Her foster mom is helping her work on eating without having a fear of it being taken away starting with some hand feeding. She takes her food and treats very gently (you don’t even know the treat is gone from your hand- she’s that gentle) and seems to love salmon, chicken and beef. 

Maggie is a timid girl, and it takes her some time to warm up to people. She warms up quicker when she is in a space where she feels most comfortable. She was used to her pack and can be quite shy around other dogs. She would best be suited with a family that lives in a quiet neighbourhood and can give her the attention she deserves and no longer has to fight for (I couldn’t imagine having to fight for attention when you have 7 fur siblings)!

Meet our dearest boy Max,

Max was found as a stray, and ended up in one of the biggest highkill shelters in California. There he sat waiting for someone to notice him. 

On February 10th Max put his 4 paws on Canadian soil, and he could celebrate the good times coming from this day on. Max is so lucky to be fostered by his foster family who is nurturing him back to life. They're cooking him fresh food and loving him endlessly. 

Max loves his people, and is also a fan of other dogs. He is 19 lbs, and about a year old. We don't know much about Max's story before coming to the shelter, but we're certain he did have an owner before he ended up on the streets, as he is a very loving, sweet boy who knows how to be a dog in a loving home. 

Max is ready for his forever home, and he can't wait to find someone who will love him, forever. 

Egon is a little Mexican puppy who was so lucky to come all the way up to Vancouver, along with his brother's Elliott and Eden. 

Egon has never known the abandoned life, and is like most puppies, happy go lucky with no worry in mind. He is playful, and super snuggly and affectionate. 

He is just 5 months old, and is all up to date on his vaccines, deworming and flea/thick prevention. He is also neutered and microchipped. 

Egon is all ready for his forever family. He can't wait to meet you!

Calvin is a sweet Mexican rescue mutt who made his way all the way to Vancouver BC.

Backstory: he used to be left all alone tied up outside on the owners roof top without any shelter from rain or shine.. 😞

Calvin is a warm and snuggly boy, who can’t get enough cuddles. He gets quickly attached to his human, and if he could choose he’d like to be around his human all of the time. He loves to play with other small dogs, and is both people and dog friendly.

Calvin is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/thick treated and microchipped.
He is all good and ready for his forever home, and we can’t wait to give him the very best home, where he never has to worry again about being left behind.

Calvin’s ideal home would be with someone who either works from home, or where there’s someone home a lot of the time, as he does not enjoy being on his own for too long. Calvin also very much prefers to be with you on the couch, and sleeping with you is a big +! He also would need to get a decent amount of exercise, he loves the dog park.

Little Minnie was rescued from the shelter where she was euth listed along with her 5 other siblings. 

They were left behind when their family moved. So the shelter took them in, and because they were so frightened, the automatically got put on the euth list. 

Minnie was saved along with Missy, and we welcomed them both into BFF on January 10th. 

Minnie is approximately 1 years old, and weighs 12 lbs. She has the most beautiful long fur and charming little ears.
